STAR TREK’S GEORGE (”Mr. Sulu”) TAKEI on Reality Check TV, gives new Trek film seal of approval!

Original STAR TREK cast member GEORGE TAKEI, who played Mr. Sulu on the first (and still the best) TV series, and the 6 films with the other original cast members, made an appearance in San Francisco recently–and RCTV was there to get an Exclusive!

Mr. Takei was very gracious and accomodating, despite his duties as Grand Marshal of the annual Cherry Blossom Parade. RCTV mamged a short but sweet chat between photo shoots with the media, in which he revealed his approval for the latest STAR TREK film, set in the early days of the original characters. He has seen bits of the film, and likes what he’s seen, as well as the new actor who plays the Sulu character. Takei, who is Japanese-American, told us the new young man is actually of Korean descent, but that doesn’t matter: Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the character is that he should be “Pan-Asian”, thus representing all asians.

See startrekmovie.com for info on the upcoming film, which is in theaters May 2009.

The complete interview will air TBA on an upcoming RCTV Episode!
